Carrot tops are my favorite veggie. I love the taste and the crunchy stalks are wonderful for my molars.
Once a week, mom buys carrots with the tops. Due to the high sugar content, carrots should be given to bunnies in moderation. Mom tries to eat the carrots that she buys but we always end up with too many carrots and never enough tops!
After reading this article, Mom and I decided to try an experiment…we were going to re-grow carrot tops.
Rather than discard the top of the carrot, we saved a few and put them in a bit of water. Here’s how it looked when we started:
After 3 weeks, we could really see our results!
Since we had success with the carrot tops, we decided to give bok choy a try. And wow, it worked! After about 6 weeks, we moved put all my new veggies into a planter:
I had to be patient but in the end, it was worth the wait. There’s nothing quite like eating directly from the planter. I have fun with it…it’s almost like forging through the forest for noms.
I hope my readers will give this a try. If you do, please send in pictures of your results!
