Bunny Boredom and a Solution

Have you ever found a power cord that’s been chewed in half?  Or perhaps a piece of furniture or baseboard with the tell tale signs of a furry friend in the house?  It happens in most bunny households and while it is frustrating, there is a way to minimize the damage.

Bunnies get bored.  And when we get bored, we tend to misbehave.  Just like other pets, bunnies are curious and we like to explore our surroundings.  When we chew things that we aren’t supposed to chew, it isn’t because we are “bad”.  It is because we’re looking for something to do….a project of sorts.

If you have an extra chair and an old sheet or blanket, you can make a bunny fort.  Bunnies like to burrow (it’s instinctual) and we LOVE to find secret hiding places.  Why not make a hiding place for us that is safe?

I am fortunate enough to have my own playroom.  To keep things interesting, mom moves my forts around at least once a week.  I love it when she does that because it makes my room new and exciting again.  All of the sudden, I have hours of exploring to do.  It keeps me busy, happy; and for the most part, out of trouble!

The next time your bunny is up to mischief, try making a simple fort.  It only takes a few minutes but it will give your bunny something fun to do that doesn’t involve unwanted bunstruction!

This is my playroom. I have a great time exploring new configurations!
